I remember, long ago, when I was not a moderator yet, I was angry seeing among "last posts" on the bottom of the page, appearing the titles of posts I could not read because they were staff-only posts.
And now, I see standard forummers having the same problem. Here is the request they have :
And, effectively, I see that standard hosted members can see yordan's hidden posts title in the "Last topics" pannel, and when they click on one of them they receive "Sorry, the link that brought you to this page seems to be out of date or broken", which is rather frustrating.
I was just wondering.
Maybe you can ask the admins, if they can make the follwing.
"If the user is an admin or moderator, he can see what the last posts/topics (from the mod/admin forums) on the bottom of this site. Because everytime I see such a post, I think a normal user wrote it, and try to check it
It's not so very important.. But I don't think we should know what mods are writing about or?"
And btw, I am writing this to you, because I think mods will listen more to you than me

I know I've thought about this before, and think it's been discussed, but I can't remember if that was before or after I was a mod and don't recall if it was ever brought to the attention of the higher ups. Either way its worth looking into, I know a handful of members have noticed this and I remember finding it somewhat annoying before I was pulled into moderator-land. Might be worth looking into and I would think it would be that difficult to implement... but then again I haven't worked with customizing board software so maybe its more complicated then it seems at first glance.
Similar Topics and Last Topics shown at each page is a custom mod from OpaQue. I do believe OpaQue is going to keep it as is for now.To "hide" hidden topic titles you can simply close the topic in question. This will prevent from showing up in the box in discussion (I know, it could defeat its own purpose...).
You are right, it defeats it's own purposes. When I close the topic, even staff members don't see the post in the "last topic" panel, so nobody will answer my question.

It's not just hiding particular topic titles but moreso having topics that are inaccessible to a particular user not showing up in that users recent post list. I mean technically they are still recent posts whether the user has access or not, but it can be annoying seeing topics you can't access
