Photo Editing

Recommended Posts

What is your favorite photo editing software (free). I personally use Picasa for my photos. It seems to be doing the job but I am now looking for more options in my editing. I would one day like to upgrade to a software like Photoshop, but it is not really in my budget for something I do as a hobby. Another question is what would you use for online storage. It is for storage only not for showing off the photos.

I still use a very much outdated program from Microsoft, Photodraw. It does pretty much everything I need to do, and though it is a fairly simple program, I had a terrible time figuring out how to use it, so I have no great urges to jump into any programs that would be more complicated to figure out than it is. I actually bought a copy of Photoshop but got it at a swap meet and never could get it to install without some code or something so I gave up on that one. I am not comfortable with online storage at all. I have all my pictures and stuff burned onto cd's. I make several copies and keep them in different places, in the event of fire or whatever. We also live in tornado alley, so there's that to consider. It is a nusance to find the pictures when I need them, since I never did figure out good ways to organize my files, but I find them sooner or later. I just don't trust clouds and that sort of stuff. You know the wind easily blows clouds away right? :-) And I've been hearing that some of these storage places then think they have the right to use your pictures with no compensation to you just because they have them stored. They can even sell them and make a profit off of your work. That sucks.

Yeah instagram got into a big stink when they started selling users images. I use the cloud for another back up only. I have an external hard drive I use as well.

Do you have a web site address for that one? Or I guess I should ask if it is free to use or if you have to sign up and pay a fee, if it was free I might like to go play with it sometime.

I have also used an app on windows 8 called Aviary. It was free and gave it a try. I seemed to be very similar to Instagram as far as features. Not what I am wanting at the time but defiantly worth looking at for someone who just wants filters. I prefer the contols and features of picasa still.

I am surprised to not see Photoscape in this list. I think it is one of those surprisingly good editing softwares. Plenty of features and very easy to use.

I do a lot of work in Photoshop so I end up editing most of my pictures through Photoshop. But I often use Photoscape to edit bunches of images :)

You can download it from here

I am a little confused, are you talking about Photoshop or Photoscape that you linked. I have never actually heard of the photoscaped until you posted the link. I am glad you posted something I have never seen before and I am interested in trying it out. Looks like you can do a great bit of editing with it and it has some interesting tools.

Well, I happen to get Photoshop CS5 for free, won it, so I consider that my free photo editing software. Granted I do not do much photo editing to begin with.
