How Do I Have Wireless Users Connect To Internet Without Workgroup

Recommended Posts

Hi,I have a small company network setup as a Windows XP workgroup. I notice that to be part of the network, there was no password required from the individual machines. I want to give my customers access to the internet from the waiting room but don't want them to connect to my workgroup. Is there any way in Windows or Router configuration to do this? Thanks.Keashdoc

Hi

Are u using a wired or wireless setup ???

If u add passwords on any of the pcs and choose make my files private.... Xp will not allow other pcs to connect without the password....

To block view of pcs in my network places ....

Xp uses WORKGROUP as the default name for the workgoup so if a customers pc is connected with windows all ur pcs will show up in network places.....To prevent this right click on my computer click properties and change the workgroup name to something else say KEASHGROUP.....
Customers wont be able to view your network

If u follow both the steps above your customers wont be able to access or view ur Pcs....

users wont be able to view ur workgroup
