Few Questions

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, First of all, I want to know that is there any trusted domain name registrar or web host provider that can accept payment from alertpay because I only have funds in my alertpay account and I just want to buy the domain name as soon as possible.....can't really wait to collect enough mycents. I am also doing research from my side too, and have found these two so far, Lacehost.com and snoork.com. Both of them accepts alertpay and the domain name at lacehost costs $10 while at snoork hosting it costs $14.99. If you are aware of other providers you are welcome to suggest :) But, please help me decide asap  Secondly, I want to know how xisto servers are performing these days. I am looking forward to buy a domain name from somewhere else that accepts alertpay and order a logic plan for developing the site here on Xisto - Support. I have enough mycents to get a hosting account :P Finally, want to know what are the limitations of shared hosting, vps or dedicated hosting account. I mean how much visitors at a time it can handle without any slowdown. Any rough estimation would be of great help too...More questions will be coming shortly, but for now just waiting for the answers of the above mentioned questions :)Thanks in advance:)

Some domain registrar that i found - gossimer.com and xtraorbit.com. These domain registrars are also providing hosting.

Xisto servers performance these days ? I prefer not to comment. You can take whatever meaning you want from this silence.

Shared hosting - unless you reach 1k visitor per day can handle your site. Especially if you add Minify engine and Super cache plugins from whatever CMS that you use.

VPS- it stands between dedicated and shared. It usually stars at 30 $ /month and onwards but is less expensive than dedicated. It is suitable when you just want to handle high traffic and streaming from your site. VPS and dedicated have less downtime in comparison to shared servers. You can expect 98% and higher uptime on VPS and dedicated servers.

Dedicated Hosting - starts at 50$ onwards to 250$ per month depending on server configuration and option of managed or unmanaged. Dedicated hosting Suitable when you have large spike of traffic and lot of files and streaming and users on your site or community. Not suitable if you don't have money from your site's earning.

In your situation you can only afford shared hosting as of yet. You can get better price for your small site at smal price from limedomains and hostica if you are on lower budget. Hope that helps.

I checked both of them and gossimer is providing domain name at the cheapest price and also seems to be well established. So, I am now thinking of going with them....what do you say??
I am very much confused......

Also, is there any risk involved in choosing domain name registrar. I mean I was just thinking that for example if the site of domain name registrar is gone that would mean I will not have any access to my domain name control panel. So what would happen then?? Will I loose my domain name?? Or I can safely transfer that domain name still to another company?

Thanks for suggesting limedomains and hostica, I checked them and they are not accepting alertpay, so I can't go with them because I can only pay via alertpay.

I can't give you gurantee of anything. 4 years ago people used to ask me about guarantee of xisto. I still can't give guarantee of anything espcially after knowing downtime these days. You know the world of computing, server hosting, uptime and bankruptcy from which you can easily decide for yourself. Things do change time to time and we can't post something which we regret after year or so. It's totally your risk to go with any host or domain registrar. You can't predict anything about domain/hosting sites anyday on the internet. Now that you have no paypal or credit card, i think you have these two domain registrar that you can use. If you can recover money from HYIP/PTC to your alertpay then you can prepay for your domain in advance. It's good option for you.

Hmmmmm......I know that, but, still have a doubt in mind, now suppose I bought a domain name from any registrar just an example and later on they just shut down their site without any announcement, then surely I will loose access to my control panel, what would happen to my domain name then????
Do I have to buy again it from other regisrtar or it can be transferred to any other regisrtrar?? Or is there any centralized body where I can access the domain, no matter from which registrar I registered it??

I personally tested xtraorbit.com and i've found they are enough good for me. But i only use their domain service and not hosting.About shutting down the site : there is always a risk that you should accept. this risk decreases by the popularity of the provider but it never reaches to zero. so every provider may close someday but some providers will transfer their users to other providers when they are closing. So you should accept the risk.If you have your cpanel in the reference site (Like name.com) there will not be any problem with closure of the registrar but if your cpanel is form the registrar website then they should transfer you account to another registrar before they want to close.

What if opaque close this site and removed mycents ? what if xisto shuts down tommorow ? what if godaddy shuts down ? namecheap gets it's office trashed in next upcoming katerina ? You have to see the risk. You can't stop your actions even though things like these are going to happen. Either you have to hold yourself back with such fear or go ahead and register one domain from these registrars to start making money or whatever you want with that site.

About your last sentence question. You need to check secure certificate at the bottom of the site's page. Those site gurantee that in case of such worst events you'll be insured to get your domain to another registrar legally.

Ok.....thats the info I was looking for. But, can you specify in a bit more detail what sort of certificate??
SSL certificate or any other....???

And, for now I have purchased the domain name from gossimer.........hope will not face any trouble with them.
Also, can anyone tell me the nameservers for xisto hosting account. I just bought logic hosting plan from xisto for developing site, and to point the domain to my xisto hosting account, I need the nameservers address which unfortunately I have forgotten

I'm talking about ID protection. I mean when you have dispute regarding the ownership of your domain this will help. This facility is given by almost every legit domain registrar. Note, this is different than domain name privacy protection. Don't worry about it, you're just buying one domain don't think much into it.

About name servers :

ns1.computinghost.com
ns2.computinghost.com

You can also verify this by browsing Xisto - Web Hosting's knowledgebase pages at Xisto - Support.com
