Internet Fraud Ways to loose your money

Recommended Posts

There are several ways to loose your money on the internet. Lately a lot of webshops go broke. So if an order is paid before receiving the products the money is gone. Another way is by fraud. It seems there are people who sell expensive products for a cheap price on sites like ebay. It seems they never ship the products. On the other hand people want to buy quality products on the internet. They show evidence that the money is sent to the bank. So the product can be sent by the seller. The next thing is that the prove of the deposit of the money turns out to be false. The other possibility is the receivement of emails from Africa. Some guest opened a topic about it.

I've noticed this also; I prefer to not use eBay as a selling/buying site because I find them very unreliable and unhelpful with it comes to helping you getting the seller banned and removed from the eBay site, they don't care and I feel like they never want to help me.

PayPal are nearly 10x worse, if you have purchased something, they always seem to side with the seller simply because they don't want to lose money. If they believe you have committed fraud they will "lock" your account simply because they just want to earn interest from you not being allowed to use YOUR money.

I don't know whether this law applies in other countries too, but in the United Kingdom there is one way of covering your back (in certain cases, I know, since there are many different cases of Internet Fraud around, and, as someone here gave some examples, it is not always fraud, for example, a seller going bankrupt).Anyway, if you, for purchases over ?100, pay by credit card and you incur any losses, for example, goods you never receive, or, also the non-fraudulent occurrence of a seller going out of business, then your credit card company will be held responsible for your losses.Obviously, as I said, there are different cases of fraud, and in some cases, you will not have a leg to stand on, on the basis that "you should not have been so stupid to fall for the scam", but there are certain ways to protect yourself against certain kinds of fraud and cases of "force majeure" such as bankruptcies and the like.
