Spilt Tea On My Laptop

i just got a new laptop a month ago as a wedding gift as well as a new puppy. a month later my puppy is a little bigger he managed to jump up to my seat and pushed my tea over all onto my laptop. i did everything ur suppose to do to keep it from a melt down. and its doing fine. only problem is these damn sticky keys....is there a way to get stickyness off without breaking my keys.my laptop is a hp compaq.can anyone please help me?

Well you won't break the keys off your laptop, they are removable. Just use a small screwdriver to pop them off. They will fight you a little, but they WILL pop off I promise you. Make sure it's unplugged when doing this though, and the battery is out.

Then use a mild cleaning solution to clean the keyboard and keys. You could soak the keys if you wanted to after popping them off. and use a q-tip to clean the surface of the keyboard after popping the keys off. I would recommend something like windex to clean it up. That should do it. Then just pop the keys back on after they are all dry, and you should be good to go.

You could just unscrew your keyboard.... The screws or screw will be on the back side.... It will be marked with a small keyboard....Once you get your keyboard out it will be easier to work with....

Most laptop are fairly easy to take apart. I guess in the minds of the manufacturers, they tried to make a small set of standards, and some of these companies adhere to it. For instance, if you want to take your keyboard out, there is usually a plastic strip going across the top of the laptop, near the screen, above the keyboard. And You normally have to pry it up using a small screwdriver. Once the one side is up, it's just a matter of prying it loose down the length of that plastic strip, or bezel as it's called.Once that comes up, then there is usually 4 small screws holding it in place. Just remove the screws and then the keyboard will be loose.

My best advice is for you to figure out your exact model and see if you can order a replacement keyboard for your laptop online. If you can order the keyboard yourself I would highly recommend you do so and use user guides online and follow the step by step process they give you for removing parts and replacing them. It may seem like geek work but its purely maintenance and anyone can do it. Here is a example of a random hp laptop guide for replacing its keyboard. I would assume this to be the most inexpensive and only possible route for you to fix your sticky keyboard issue.

You can remove the keyboard by something small like a small screwdriver, just find those little things holding them and pop them out nice and careful and then you can wash it, and I guess don't be afraid to get it a little wet, just make sure it gets dry when you'll want to put it back..Or you can get/order a new one, it's quite cheap, depends on the model.Strange, that nothing happened to your hardware after this accident.

Only way i know to avoid further damage to laptop is by letting the laptop dry on it's own. Due to my working near air conditioner i can say that it works out somehow. by letting it dry on its own you can be sure that there is no moist. but avoid keeping it in direct sunlight because it will damage your laptop screen if there is too much temperature on it.
