Which Is The Most Sensible Video Converter?

Recommended Posts

I've used a lot of video converters before and have always had some issues with them regarding codecs or sync or something else. I mostly download flv videos from youtube and sometimes in mp4 format if the videos are really good. I want to convert all of them into avi format to play on a dvd player. Now the problem is that I don't know much about codecs and easily get confused with them. And I don't know of a good converter which will do all of this with the minimum amount of fuss. So can someone please suggest me a good converter which will do the job? I want flvs and mp4s to be converted into avi, and a single converter for both would be good. So help.....please?

This one is, in my own personal opinion, the best video converter you will find:

http://imptestrm.com/rg-erdr.php?_dnm=www.mediaconverter.org&_cfrg=1&_drid=as-drid-2908636497978342

It handles numerous different formats. It also works very quickly. The one downside is the limited number of conversions per day, but unless you're trying to make a Youtube Poop or something, five conversions should be plenty. (And if it isn't, you can always do five more the next day. )

well the limitations aren't good at all. I have a lot of videos to convert, around 150 or more. I can't wait 50 days to get them all :P

I've been trying a free one called aTube Catcher ( http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ ). I would also recommend looking into Zamzar ( http://www.zamzar.com/ ), a free online converting service that will convert just about anything and everything for you.

I'm not very attracted to online conversion as I have limited bandwidth and can't wait for that much time to get the videos also.

I was reading a computer magazine and found a converter myself - Any Video Converter. It is freeware and doesn't have any limitations and has preset profiles for common conversions, which includes avi  The only bad thing about this is that for some flv videos it is losing sync after conversion. I think this is happening only for flv videos of one particular codec flv1 or something like that. For other flv videos it is converting really well.

ConvertXtoDVD is the best that I have ever used because it is easy, uncluttered and has several features like a custom menu or one of several you can choose from and you can add extra audio and the list goes on.Nero was good in its day but it is so bloated and expensive, I think it has fallen dramatically in the past couple of years..</h1>

I have found that the converter that provides best coverage with a variety of formats is ?Total video converter?. The installation pack comes with a player but if you are unable to view a video you can always convert it. However, the only problems I have found is that it takes a long while to open rvmb files and it cannot effectively convert swf to any another format. Simply get ?swf to avi? and ?real alternative player? to have the base of a vast array of formats. Finally, get k-light codec then you will be able to view and convert all the video formats that I have ever encountered. Take my work for it. It is a small, effective and fast program inclusive of user friendly features.
