I know the perfect program you're looking for, or maybe no.. :D

Its not free but you can download a free trial - Swish - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

It comes with a lot of pre-defined effects you can use, and there are a lot of tutorials, so just search around and I think this will work fine for you.

But my recommendation is to buy (or download from the net) the real macromedia flash, because its the best and with sites like http://www.flashkit.com/ its easy to understand and start using the program.

Take care.

yea, when it comes to flash, free will be a very hard concept to grasp LOL! Basiclly if your looking for a quality peice of work, you should hire someone to do it that knows how, if of course you have the money! lol again! But, if your lookin to do it yourself for money (LOL AGAIN), you should use Flash Mx 2004. Not only will it help you out with flash intros, but can lead you into the door of websites galore (oooh rhymin now!). I currently use it (though im a bit slow with it), and its awesome beyond belief. But, ifd you want to create proffessional banners, i suggest you learn actionscript before buying it, which is the built in code for it. Sorry that i couldnt give you any help without the money part, but thruthfully, a lot of things dont go without dollars, J 2 da Mb

Just go to http://www.adobe.com/ and then dowloads, and grab the Trial Version of FlashMX 2004. Then your best bet is http://www.flashkit.com/ for tutorials on using the program. if your a webdesigner, flash is a ggreat skill to have on your side. I've been using it forever because i used to be a Newgrounds.com Junky. but definately there are some great tutorials to help you make a sick intro at Flashkit. GOODLUCK! :D
