as far as I know black holes do exist. These things are "pieces" of space. their gravitational field is really strong, so strong that nothing can escape from them. I don't know much - Just what I've learn from school, but like I said, as far as I know they exist, but scientists are still studying them. (I've heard they are trying to figure out if you can travel in time through them)I remember last year I red about a particle accelerator, the LHC, which started to operate on September (2008). Some people said that it could cause a blach hole that could eat the whole earth- and all of us too - I don't know if it can be true, but I couldn't sleep in days hahaha

These are some of the most widely researched topics in that field.
The scientific community has a lot to tell about the black holes. You should take a look at the very big article in the Wikipedia about the black hole. Link below.

Impressive. SOme of the stuff goes over my head and beyond my level of understanding... But its interesting to read. Lots of Physics knowledge and interest to explore and know this stuff will help a lot. :)

Yes, they exist. Of course nobody knows where are they going to :) You just die and... idk. Or maybe I have been watching too much Futurama? Nah, they exist I think. Also, isn't this the wrong section? Freebie Stuff??

Well, you can't really see one, can you? Even with a telescope, they would just be empty shadows of space o-o They suck in light and everything. Though i'm no expert. I think they could probably guess where one was. Big empty bit with no stars ^^;'

Everyone interested in black holes should check out this link http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ It may (or may not, but someone said it did) have some scientific errors but it's still a pretty nice little visual introduction to black holes.

Do you think we'll ever find out the truth of what happens inside a black hole? I have my doubts, if a BH is so powerful it stretches or compressed everything infinitely, how could anything or anybody ever be strong enough to withstand being sucked into it? I don't know, it's mind boggling to think about. To just be sucked in and cease to exist.. where does the stuff that's sucked in go? Another dimension? Huh? I sure don't know. It's hard to even grasp the concept of black holes being reality and not some outrageous fiction.

Black Holes do exist, but they popup randomly. Thats why its hard to see or track one. It is theorized that Black Holes can be found only at the appearance in the universe, because all things + light will be sucked into it, and it'll only be opened for a short amount of time. I believe they can lead to other dimensions/universes. Just nothing has been proved... :S

I was watching a movie yesterday and just remembered the dialogue - I'll tear off your Black Hole. If that was true and it meant for a girl, then the Black Hole is a part of the feminine side of the universe.

Black Hole is a subject that has been an enigma to the scientists and they are yet to identify what actually causes it.

There were a couple of programs in National Geographic which enlightened on Black Holes.

Theoretically speaking, black holes are just one of the many roots to one certain quantum physics equation. The mathematicians and scientists involved in that research didn't expect to theorize a black hole; in fact, they were actually trying to solve another problem. When black holes were first introduced to the public, people instantly believed the theory because it came from the top international scientists. Because of the hype and hope people had over these things, astronomers suddenly had an extra responsibility of finding them.

So to answer your question, black holes do not necessarily exist, but there are many strong clues that suggest they do. Believe what you want :)

i believe they exist. But nobody can see black holes. Just can identify them through object near the black hole.No things can escape from black hole including light. I wonder what inside black hole? it is 4th dimensions or more or another world that we dont know....Hope scientis can find out the answer.......

Yes, i think they exist :) They are letting the UV light to enter in our Planet, and that can make serious problems with our skin, like we can get cancer etc :D It's not good job, we must ceep the planet :S

This science which deals with black holes is an observational science. We can observe but we can not verify the truth. Hence what we believe may or may not be true. But as far I have gained information about the external space, I feel that there must be things out there which we can not explain. Black holes are such arrangements. Nothing can escape black holes, not even light: so why doesn't a black hole diminish its own existance? Countless possibilities lie in the space. I firmly believe that there got to be civilizations out there, far advanced than that of ours, travelling across galaxies wormholes because the empty space got to contain something. Why not black holes?
