What If I Only Run A Forum At Trap17?

Recommended Posts

As I just can't seem to put my site on Xisto server, even I coppied all the files to root and /public_html/ folders  ,and I have only managed to put phpBB forum,is there any problem with this? I mean,is it OK if I just continue with running forum, without website? Off course,if I regularly post in your forums.

I don't think it really matters what you host on your webspace, as long as it doesn't conflict with the rules and regulations that the admins of Xisto have already posted. Just remember to keep it clean and to be an active member in the forums and you probably wont have anything to worry about.

Erm .. i think u have missed some points there.

Xisto provide u the space to host ur website. A website could be anything u like such as blogs, forums, or just plain simple website.

That is, a phpBB forum is considered a website (that uses a forum) :)

Thanks for the replies. So far I am very satisfied with the level of professionalism that Trap 17 is providing us.Installing phpBB forum takes less than 5 seconds. (It's not that I don't know to install it manually, but even uploading of install files takes some time),so thumbs up from my side for Xisto!!!

Well, if you can wait a while, phpbb is going to be releasing their new forums module codename "Olympus". It's actually version 2.2, but they have decided to give it a name instead and this version is going to be 3.0.0 instead of 2.2.0. They have already released this announcement on their main site and they have also mentioned a few features that will be installed. Personally, I'm going to wait until Olympus is released. I'm very intrigued as to what it all consists of. Apparently, they also have a completely new template for it as well. It's very hush, hush though. They wont be using that template with their beta releases.

Indeed. The cPanel features are really some good features. I hate Phpbb personaly. Try PunBB or whitefyre. WhiteFyre is a gamefaqs spinoff, while PunBB is your normal Bulletin Board.....

In my opinion that are only two good bulletin boards... they are: phpBB and Invision Boards (IPB)... phpBB is betters but, for me, it's harder to use... so I use Invision... One day I will start to use phpBB but at the moment I'm used to Invision so I just have no patience to change board... :P

why couldnt you use it just for a forum if you post regularly and everything there souldnt be a problem. its not like your useing to much space or anytihng like that too you dont realy need upgrades and all that jazz. your just hosting a forum wich wont use much bandwith so your good all around :P

i liked phpBB and all the mods that were accessible for it, but recently i have switch to phpNuke Platinum 7.6.0, it is amazing. it has over 200 preinstalled mods and i find the mods more 'involved'. ex 'points mod' with phpNuke platinum you can rewards users points for clicking banners. just an example but i like it. i will be interested as well to see what "Olympus" is like, and i may consider a switch back if it is good enough, but for now im enjoying phpNuke platinum.
