A user is set-up for all the Admin/Moderators from this Forum to use to check out the features of the Moderators/Admins and General Board operations.

User name: member
Password: GolBCden
User Group: demo_admin

I have an SQL file to re-set the Forum to its default settings, should it be required. I will be Importing the default information on a random schedule in case there are problems, but the above user will be included in the re-set of the database.

PM or email me if there are any problems.

Wow, looks amazing. Looks a lot like IPB in some ways. I need to check the out, hah.

I already set AEF up on my laptop, and it is a great alternative to IPB (in my opinion). I was going to look at writing a mod or two, or possibly a theme, but each feature I looked at adding was already there :XD:

i wish i had known about this earlier, before i did a site revamp. :) i just chose VANILLA from lussumo for my current site forum's reincarnation. anyway, good looking & FAST (even on dialup) forum there. maybe i'll keep this in mind when the time comes for another site revamp for me. and hopefully it has grown better when the time comes. :XD:

lol I never heard of this but it certainly looks pretty cool. I'm still a phpBB fan :XD:

so WAS I...

Dooga

lol come on phpBB isn't that bad :XD:

No, it is pretty okay, but the AEF Forum impresses the heck out of me as to the size of files served @ less than 50% of the file size compared to the phpbb2.0.22 I have. Other nice things:Shoutbox, pop-up or fixed, built-in News rotator, Ad Banner optional (top and Bottom), bottom nav breadcrumbs. All in addition to the regular features found in most Boards. :XD:but mostly, VERY fast compared to the phpbb2.

ei jimmy, is there a plugin or mod already available to integrate this one with wordpress? :) haven't done my research yet on this, i just hope you have a ready answer as i believe you're a part of the moderator team there as well the last time i've checked AEF. :P

Nope, but I am presently tying it into sNews, a Mysql driven, single file CMS if you are interested in that, I'll keep you posted. The sNews themes pretty easy, there are lots of Wordpress Themes already available for it.

So, by this weekend, I hope to have a multi-user sNews CMS tied into the AEF Forum on a Word-press-like Theme available to look at.
I call it a word-press-like Theme, because it looks like something that should be a Wordpress theme.
I have written the HTML page myself and added in the sNews, so the next challenge is getting the Forum into the page. Biggest hurdle will be trying to tie the Log-ins together because the scripts are quite different. Might need a separate Login for each of them. Not a biggie, since only the Article Editors need to Log-in to the CMS.

that's great news to hear, jim! i will also take a look into sNews then. :D muchas gracias! i will make the preparations for local testing by downloading the major required scripts (sNews and AEF). somehow i'm beginning to realize how bloated wordpress can be if i permit every bells and whistles which the developers constantly churn out. :) i will be on the lookout for your tutorial for integration sometime soon then... and stress-test the results next. :P i don't really need it for now though, but it will be good to see what it can do locally before i attempt to do a site redesign again. thanks!
