Theories How The Dinosaurs Got Extinct many

Recommended Posts

Probably the most popular theory right now is the Space Theory. This theory was so said that a large comet - asteroid - meteorite (or how ever you may say it) collided with Earth about 65 million years ago. Scientists think that such a large collision would throw so much dust into the air that sunlight would not be able to shine and plants and animals would die. The changes in climate that resulted from this huge collision were too much for the dinosaurs. They were not able to survive. The either suffocated to death or died from reactions. Another theory that could explain how the dinosaurs became extinct is volcanic activity. A huge increase in volcanic activity at around 65 millions years ago could have pumped so much ash into the air that it blocked out the sun killing the dinosaurs. Some scientists believe that there was a severe ice age. Throughout Earth's history there have been many ice ages. The last one ended about 10,000 years ago. A very severe ice age could have changed temperatures and frozen a lot of Earth's water. The dinosaurs would not be able live under such conditions and that is how the dinosaurs became extinct. It has also been suggested that desease killed off the dinosaurs. A very deadly desease may have circulated among the dinosaurs forcing them to become extinct. The last theory is that the Earth just gradually changed in climate over a long time period and the dinosaurs were not able to adapt to the cooler, dryer climate. Like how human are destroying the climate now. If we carry on we will kill the world from poverty or may cause an ice-age. NB: this text was NOT copied. Yeah, there are a lot of theories. I personally am Christian and believe that "The Flood" came and drowned them all, basically what I believe is that God sent a global flood (ya know, the story of Noah and the Ark?) and all the dinosaurs got killed in it, there is actually quite a bit of geologic evidence for this one, and, who knows, there may still be a few left, like the Loch Ness monster and things like that. I dunno, you're right, there are a lot of theories but nobody really knows.

The question of how dino's died out is no more a theory.

There is sufficient core samples of sediment rock, that showed somewhere 65 Million Years a go there was this world catastrophe.

When scientist examined everything BELOW the Black Line(Point of Prolonged Winter After Impact) they found lots of dinosaur fossils and other life. ABOVE the black line they found little or no fossils and the ones they found were of small rodents and early mammals.

Further More, Chemical Testing of the mineral in the dark sediment resulted in the discovery of clay, which dated back to the EXACT point of extinction and I quote:

To address both questions, Mukhopadhyay and his colleagues measured the amount of cosmic dust in the sediments of an ancient sea bed which is now exposed on land about 100 miles north of Rome. In particular they focused on a two-centimeter-thick clay deposit that previously had been dated to about 65 million years ago. The base of this clay deposit corresponds to the date of the extinction event.

I'm going to play "don't rock the boat" card here...Could it be possible that when "God" banished Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, the Bible talks about putting a distance between outcasts and the Garden in the form of fire. And something relating to the burning of any trace of the Garden so that no mankind would ever be allowed to enter/find it again. This might explain both "God" theory and a natural disaster that might have extinguished exotic living life forms, thereby burring them deep into the Earth. To a divine One time is irrelevant. Time could have been fast forwarded outside of Adam and Eve's dimension. Then both the Creation and Evolution play an equal part. After all, to rule out improbable in the science of hypotheses would be a crime against itself--science.

Some scientists believe that there was a severe ice age. Throughout Earth's history there have been many ice ages. The last one ended about 10,000 years ago. :XD:

Pertaining to the Asteroid Theory

In order for the dust to cover the entire earth, it would have had to have been a REALLY big meteor. But heat would still manage to exist, and this doesn't explain how the dinosaurs living in the water came to be extinct, though some claim to have seen the Lochness monster. And this also doesn't explain how the earth managed to recover from such a REALLY big hit.

Pertaining to the Volcanic Activity Theory

Similar to the previous theory. Heat would still exist, and does not explain how the aquatic dinosaurs became extinct. Not only that, in order to shoot out that much ash there would have to be a really big volcano in the center of the United Continents (assuming all land was once one back then), and it would have to shoot constantly, ruining all land life: both plants and animals. And as we all know, when lava hardens it becomes rock, meaning it would be a bit hard for plant life to re-grow.

Pertaining to the Ice Age Theory

It would have to have fully frozen the water (which would require REALLY deep temperatures, for the ocean is salty) and not just the surface to kill off aquatic dinosaurs (and even then, they could have probably still survive), for even today's fish can survive if just the surface is frozen. Also, there is an insect (not sure of the name but saw it on T.V. before) that is capable of surviving such temperatures though being frozen solid. It defrosts itself when the winter season is over. If there were dinosaurs that could do the same thing, they would have survived. So the ice age would have to have be more than just severe to even kill off all of the dinosaurs, for if the latest ice age was over 10,000 years ago, it is obvious that we survived it.

Pertaining to the Massive Disease Theory

In my opinion this one has a higher chance of destroying the dinosaurs than the others. But if the disease was corrosive, it may feed off of the plants, down to the roots. It would be hard for life to "restart" if such were the case. The disease would also die out, for lack of food.

Pertaining to the last mentioned Theory

Similar to the ice age one, but i doubt the aquatic dinosaurs would feel dry. :D Also, aren't the skin of dinosaurs dry regardless of the climate?

Could it be possible that when "God" banished Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, the Bible talks about putting a distance between outcasts and the Garden in the form of fire. And something relating to the burning of any trace of the Garden so that no mankind would ever be allowed to enter/find it again. This might explain both "God" theory and a natural disaster that might have extinguished exotic living life forms, thereby burring them deep into the Earth.

This "form of fire" is actually a flaming sword that floated around the entrance to the gate of the garden of Eve not permitting any sinner to enter. But there's no mention of it going against God's command and burning the whole garden down, for i highly doubt such a thing can have free will, nor is there any mention of it having free will. But your theory would explain the extinction of dinosaurs completely: God removing the dinosaurs in order to bring about the time of Human existence. Of course this theory completely ruins the theory of evolution for those who believe in it, but anything dealing with the Biblical God does so anyways. :D:)

AAah..but what about the facts that dinosaur bones were never discovered by common people?.. unlike other archeologist found.. like the dead sea scroll.. have you ever heard dinosaur bones discovered by a child?..or a builder?you can't brought up folklore in a science arguments.. folklore was based on cultural beliefs, religious as well as mythic elements..not scientifical facts.. believe me I have heard many folklore coming from all over the world.. for example.. in Indonesia there's a folklore that a green giant called Butoijo.. come every full moon to eat crops and herds.. and every once in a while a child.. In mexico (or Peru) scientist discovered UFOs in the Maya-Aztec Temple reliefs.. not to mention Ogres and Trolls from Britain.. are you saying that all that was real?..and speaking of evolution..how come only few dinosaurs evolved but keep their form today?.. aside from komodo-dragon.. how come the physical condition were perfectly fitted millions of years ago..( and they keep it for another millions of years ).. but suddenly they evolved into a completely different form?etc.: birds.. and not just one species of dinosaur, but all of them.. all that roam on earth that is.. what made them change their form so extremely?.. global weather extreme changes?.. meteorite collision with earth?.. well they were doing fine for millions of years..and i bet in a million years the weather did changed a lot..okay let's say that a meteor really did crashed down and changed the global weather conditions.. let's say that the sun can't get through the clouds of dust for thousands of years.. and an extreme winter were upon the earth.. what about the dinosaur that already live in the cold climate such as the north end.. what happenned to them?.. changed into a bird also?..and finally..about museums.. really.. if something is displayed in the museum does it really mean it's real?.. have you ever heard the piltdown man case?.. the skull of the "missing link" was found by charles dawson..staged in the infamous London Natural History Museum and received many praise..even called the discovery of the century..then they found out that the skull were fabricated using orangutan jaw, human scalp and many other to form the great "missing link"..museum is a business.. a multi-billion-dollars business.. just like any other business in the world.. the thing is.. they're running out of "materials" to sell..just a thought.. no offense..Thanks for replies :XD:

You know...

I believe in Creation!

I believe God made everything, and man also, and that there was a flood, and there will be tribulation and judgement on all of us.

But I don't believe dinosaurs are extinct.

If you look closely at the account before the flood, it said in Genesis....

Gen 6:19: And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.

Gen 6:20: Of fowls, after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.

It means dinasaurs were included! If you say its not true, then kill yourself, because if he didn't did it, we wouldn't be here by now.

Probably Noah put dinosaur babies there, a male and female.

They CAN adapt to climates on earth, and they're here now.

Evidence

1) There are now many stories on what they say "monsters", and mostly "sea monsters."

2) In Japan, some fishermen found decaying body of an "extinct thing!"(scientist could say its dinosaur but it is)

3) Try going to Africa in their Great Swamp, there are dinosaurs there.

Textbooks are lying! Many have seen dinosaurs! What actually happened is that after the Flood, dinosaurs became afraid of man

Evidence

1) Why is an imaginary animal, dragon, included in the Chinese animals of the year?

2) I found pictures of rocks of tribes with a dinosaur in it. They didn't knew dinosaurs were supposed to be extinct, neither they knew they were dinosaurs!

3)Why is there a word "dragon" in the Bible? Is the Bible lying about including a "fake animal" there?

So I say there are dinosaurs.

the Great flood (with noah and all etc...) would only of killed the living things not brought on the ark, and those things that lived on land, so thats why the fish and many birds (i.e. seagulls) did not become extinct. There ar theories of how the 'Great Flood' happened. after reading some books about theories on how the dinosaurs became extinct i read one which interested me.I forgot what book it was called but yeah...The theory theorizes that dinosaurs actually breathed in CO2 and breathed out O2, so here's my theory based on some of the book's theories:if for example the earth was CO2 rich millions of years after the creation of earth, it would of been the perfect haven for the dinosaurs. So what if he dinosaurs were unrivaled? and they overpopulated, eventually with the help of trees the CO2 in the air grew too little for the dinosaurs to breath. And not enough CO2 in the air would mean the earth's temperature would cool down.So if the earth was very humid and it was covered in thick clouds, and the earth suddenly cooled down all that water would fall as rain, all that rain would mean extreme flooding, the rain would cause flash flooding, and it would cause many avalanches becuase of all the snow fall.So if that did happen it would explain why the dinosaurs died (suffocation) but how the human race survived? i still do not know

My self I dont know what to believe... Only if a cockroach could talk they are the only things living connected to the dinasaur erra to my understanding. How do you think they survived?

We know 100% absolutely that animals didn't exist at the same time as the dinosaurs, nor did man. Man came millions and million of years later. Think before you speak.

hello, I would like to comment on birudagmawis comment in saying that the dinosaurs theory of death is clearly something quick although geologists have studied rocks in greenland and have discovered that the extintion (excluding birds and crocodiles) took about 100 000 years which rules out the asteroid therory. Many scientists have ruled out the ice age/global warming theory also.

I am an expert geographer and if you have ANY questions please do not threat

I also think on the same lines. When such a biome has developed on this earth, such a long time ago- the environment must have been completely adept to their lives. That was why such complex creatures roamed on earth. And their sudden extinction from earth (as we have been always told, or scientific researchs always made us believe!) would have been due to some inevitable extra-terrestrial forces.

But their might be another side of the story as well, what if their extinction was a gradual process, not a sudden one? They came to peak of their existance, conflicts were what resulted in their disappearance from the earth, that was not a sudden process of end. We are not having any evidence but there may be explaination to this side as well.

In response to ronelm2000 Theories How The Dinosaurs Got Extinct

Listen to say Noah put every creature that crawled the earth into a boat is completely impossible. According to the Discovery channels Noah's Ark which aired December 14, 2008 at 7pm, there are roughly 30 million species on the planet today. Now before someone says there were less animals in Noah's time, think about it before you say it. Saying Noah had only a fraction of those animals would be saying that evolution exists. If Noah had only a fraction of the 30 million to load, say 10,000 species then the 30 million must have evolved from the original 10,000. It would also be suggesting that God did not create all the animals on the 6th day. By the way, the 30 million species does not include the dinosaurs that you said Noah put on the ark and still exist today. I quote "They CAN adapt to climates on earth, and they're here now."

Alight so if Noah had to load 30 million species (60 million animals, due to one male, one female), all in 7 days, according to the bible (Genesis 7:4, and again in verse 7:10), he would have to be loading at a rate of 50 pairs a second for 24 hours a day for 7 days. You can do the math if you doubt me.

I know someone is going to say that God helped him. If your going to quote the bible word for word on everything, where does it say God gave him a hand. God asked Noah to do it, he gave him specific dimensions (300 cubits x 50 cubits x 30 cubits; Genesis 7:15). If God was going to help Noah wouldn't God just do it? Isn't he capable of all things? Couldn't he build this ark in the blink of an eye? If you think about it why would he flood the world anyway? He could just kill exactly who or what he wanted in a blink of an eye and keep Noah and his family plus two of every animal alive on the earth.

I'm not trying to change your beliefs or anything like that. I think believing in God is great. I read the bible. It just drives me crazy that christians and other God believing religions think science is a lie because it goes against a story in the bible. The bible is a series of stories written by men who are writing about experiences that God gave them. They are fictional stories that are trying to portray a message, show people how to have faith, show people what God wants, and I could keep going. They are not to be taken literally. Nearly every story in the bible has some impossible event that go against laws of nature and physics that we know for sure cannot happen. Should we not read the bible then because it is a story? NO. The bible teaches us great things. Everyone should read it, even an athiest, before they argue that the bible is untrue and God does not exist. Should we then say science is a joke? NO. Someone tried to argue with me that science is just guesses about the world around us and has no benifit to life. I had to sit down and laugh because everything today, technology, medical supplies, cars, everything comes from science. Please don't say that you know dinosaurs exist today because God said put all animals on the ark and dinosaurs were included.

My whole point is, christians, atheist, scientist, creationist, evolutionist, everyone, needs to read the other side before saying science is a joke or the bible is a joke. Christians and other "Godly" faiths need to stop taking the bible literally and throwing away all human knowledge and logic. Until a scientist can tell me without looking what Mark16:15 says, or a christian (other Godly faiths) show me and the world they have proff dinosaurs were not killed off by a meteorite, don't claim you have proff or can disprove something that is known by nearly everyone.

and don't say dinosoars are hiding in Africa because they are afraid of man!
