wild20: I've never spoken in favor of driving cars or even driving under the influence of any drugs ... whenever I use mind-affecting drugs (whatever it is ... be it cannabis, be it alcohol, be it caffeine...) I make sure that I've got at least one day off before I get behind or on a wheel again (ok, I might go for a ride on my bike again in the evening or if I know that I ride on roads which are seldom used by cars/seldom used at all ... but any car I'm supposed to drive would have to wait for the next morning...
there's a very nice poem about that but I've never seen it in english yet so I'll translate it for you:
I went to a party, mommy, and thought about your words. You asked me not to drink, so I didn't drink alcohol.
I felt proud, mommy, just like you said I would.
I didn't drink before driving, mommy, even though the others laughed about it.
I know that was right, mommy, and that you're always right.
The party's over now, mommy, and everyone's driving home.
When I got into my car, mommy, I knew I'd make it home safely,
due to your education so responsible and fine.
I got onto the car, mommy, but the other driver didn't see me and his car hit mine hard.
Now I'm lying on my back, on the pavement, and I hear the cops say: "He who did that was drunk."
Now I'm the one who's got to pay.
I'm dying, mommy, please come, please hurry. How could this happen?
My life blew like a balloon.
Everything's covered in blood, mommy, most of it is mine.
I hear the doctor say, mommy, that there's no hope for me.
I'd just like to say, mommy, I swear I didn't drink.
It was the others, mommy, they didn't think about it.
He probably was on the same party as me, mommy.
The difference is: He drunk and I will die.
Why do people drink, mommy? It can ruin a while life.
I have strong pains now, mommy, sharp like knifes.
The guy who hit me, mommy, walks around and I'm lying to die.
He's looking stupid.
Tell my brother not to cry, mommy.
Tell daddy to be brave.
And when I'm in heaven, write Daddy's Girl on my grave.
Somebody should have taught him, mommy, not to drink and drive.
If someone had told him, mommy, I'd still be alive.
My breath is going short, mommy, I'm afraid.
Please don't cry, mommy, you were always there for me.
I have only one last question, mommy, before I leave:
I didn't drink before I drive, why am I the one who has to die?
What I am curious about is how did they ever come up with the connection between this illness and the thc cure? Some of the most harmful things come from the strangest places. Heroin can help you or destroy you. The benefits of chewing cocoa leaves turns into a nightmare when it is processed into cocaine, and then crack. That is one very strong argument about the destruction of the Rain Forests in South America (and elsewhere). We really don't know what else is in the Forests which might benefit the world population. (Besides the tree's ability to handle co2 and produce oxygen.)I hope something good comes out of this research.
I am glad you agree. And although I don't agree with the use of drugs for the fun of it, I do think they have beneficial elements to some forms of cancers and other disease. And you are doing a great service to your country by not driving messed up. Just my thoughts on it. Nice poem by the way. It shows that you can pay even if you are not the one who is messed up and driving. Just another reason why drinking and doing drugs while driving is bad for both you and others in your way.
wow.. i didn't know that leukemia was cuased by a virus. =P. I thought it happans because you have too many white blood cells. <--- didn't really learn anythign about lukemia, even though our last choir teacher died from it at my school just last year.Well. .about the marijuana. It is legal in some states to be used for medical purpose.. so i don't think the goverment will have to legalize the drug (as in letting people use it as a non medical purpose).
Leukemia is blood or bone marrow cancer, but it can cause you to have too many white blood cells.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leukemia for more.
No matter how many medical or environmental benefits (i.e., Hemp cloth better for environment than cotton) are discovered, mary jane will never be legalized in the united states. The reason I suspect, is that they cannot control it (production, sales, taxes, etc), therefore it is an illegal substance. There is no proof that it's any worse than alcohol, or cigarettes. There is constant influx of promising research, yet it's illegal. Right now they try to regulate and dispense it to cancer patients by prescription, but that's as far as they'll probably go. What I don't understand is how a government can arrest you and throw you in jail for growing a plant. Makes no sense.
US and it's stuck up policies.. Who cares man
A group in London discovered that THC helps to kill leukemia cells by affecting a certain gene. MKP3, enhanced by THC, helps stop the MAPK pathway, which some scientists believe is a factor in the survival of tumor cells.
So another plus for marijuana? Think that the U.S. will ever legalize it nationally, even if just for medical purposes? I think we're just too conservative as a country to do it, even if it has some big benefits =/
Thc Found To Kill Leukemia Cells

Replying to beesevenAs a person experiencing chemotherapy through my own eyes, watching my 2 year old son, I don't think the entire you.S. Will ever be accepting even with overwhelming evidence of medical purposes if it weren't for marijuana being an illicit drug prior to finding medical benifits, it would be part of standard Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia treatment.

Medicinal purposes and legalization(with limits like: Driving, Age, and Sale) would be great. Basically like alcohol/other medical drugs but with great benifits and no drawbacks and theres little good from alcohol. I have found personally that drving high(myself and being with others that drive blazed) are actually very good. More cautious really, I guess its the paranoia. anyway I'm pretty high an decided to submit my opinion so peace out and keep smokin-reply by Brad
Firstly, msdeeva you say that
This argument is self defeating and causally the other way round. Because marijuana is an illegal substance the US government can not control it. Were it legal, they would be more than capable of controlling production, sales and tax. Some estimates say the US government could generate as much as $1bn in tax revenue.
The reason I suspect, is that they cannot control it (production, sales, taxes, etc), therefore it is an illegal substance.
Unless that group's research is also verified by many, many other sources it will not make a difference.Anyone can *claim* anything.I could publish a document right now stating that water cures cancer and makes people turn homosexual due to chemical changes water brings on.Does that make it true? No. It gets published and then over a long period (many months to years) others will attempt to replicate the research. Only upon them failing multiple times are they able to properly "deny" the claim I put out.Much like with this group. Until it has been verified and re-verified by others there is no truthfulness behind it.
It's not only a matter of medical condition. Than it only helps evaluating some kind of disease such as leukemia. So uses can be made for special cases. But I am not sure if these studies are real or proven.
sweet, except your link doesnt work. (for me) but anyway watch a movie on youtube free of charge called run from the cure. Right now. And do your research
