Any iPod problems try calling apple, or try the link already posted above apple ipod trouble shooting and go from there, its a step by step do this, do that if it fixes it yay.
Or try taking it into an apple shop. My local apple repair shop is nice. Even if you can't go in there call them up. If it's a common problem they can talk you through how to fix if you've got enough technology knowhow.
Always ask if its covered by warranty, and if not how much it would be.

On the positive side, you can also install applications from the App Store using iTunes, so it's not all that bad. Plus there's the synchronization between Apple iTunes and the Apple iPod that you can do to keep copies of all your music.
Umm, before you try restarting and all that, read the manual. It should say something about the iPod not responding and the exact instructions how to fix it. That's what happened to my iPod just today.-reply by Lillian
Not sure if this is the right forum, but I didn't see anywhere else for it...Ok, my girlfriend got a 2 GB iPod Nano about a month ago. She had about 100 songs on it and one day they just disappeared. Her normal PC won't recognize that she has the iPod plugged in, and her stepdad's laptop will recognize it... But after she transfers all the songs, and she unplugs the iPod from the laptop, she loses all of her songs again...She talked to an apple guy, but they said she needed to do a system restore on it, but they didn't tell her how... And she can't return it because she got it engraved... Anyone got any suggestions?-question by greg

Call Apple! Many of the times, they will replace it for free. If they can't go to iresq.com and they have replacement parts (but they are a bit expensive). Why would you throw away an iPod? They are easily fixed or replaced, and if it is REALLY dead, recycle it and get 10% off a new iPod. No need to have more mercury contaminating our children's and grandchildren's water then there already will be.All iPods (at least since the second generation) are made in China, so there is no difference between an Apple iPod and a Chinese iPod. If you are talking about the rip-offs that aren't really iPods, I know what you are talking about.
to fix the problem hold in the middle button and the play button for 5seconds. Should fix it up.-reply by craig
hi................... you are in problem. iam here to solve your problem that how to cure your ipod. first of all go to the shopkeepern and then ask from him the reason for not working of your ipod and then give it to them to reparer it
As stated above, the best idea would be to go to the shopkeeper, which is Apple. Unfortunately they can't repair it on site.
I have had my 80gb Classic for about a year and a half, and last night out of nowhere the menu and center buttons stop working. I can't restart it with the hold on, hold off menu+center trick because like I said the buttons aren't working. And I've restored it like 3 times and it still isn't working. Does anyone have any way to fix it or should I just go to the apple store and see if they can fix it or get a new one.-reply by BlargJ
